On September 18, six rising cows from the Class of 2027, CDTs Ryan Anthony, Cal Donohue, Olivia Esquivel, Jon Heimberg, Noah Loughlin, and Navi Singh, affirmed their commitment to complete their cadet careers and serve out their active-duty service requirement upon graduation from West Point. Their other classmates took this oath at West Point on August 17.
This Affirmation Ceremony, held for the visiting USMA Exchange Cadets studying at the United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) for the semester, was sponsored by the West Point Society of Connecticut (WPSCT) and the 50-Year Affiliate Class of 1977. The event was held at the Maritime Center of Excellence at the US Coast Guard Academy. WPSCT President Mark Guner ’96 served as the MC for the Ceremony. Opening remarks were given by Commander Michael Mastrianni, Assistant Commandant of Cadets USCGA, and our honored guest speaker was Mr. Terry Stewart ’77. Mr. Stewart also administered the oath of office.
West Point Society of CT members Phil Smith ’69, Steven Choi ’89, Wil Whitten ’92, Christopher Rivers ’10, and Catherine Rivers ’09 were also in attendance along with family, friends, and staff at the USCGA.
Following the ceremony, the cadets and joined the WPSCT for a celebratory dinner at the Blue Duck in New London, CT.
