The Army West Point Triathlon Team delivered a historic performance at the 2026 USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships, held March 27–28 in Gulfport, Mississippi, marking the program’s strongest finish in more than a decade.

Competing against more than 100 collegiate teams—including perennial powerhouses such as California, Berkeley, UCLA, Colorado, and Arizona State—the Black Knights placed fifth overall in the combined team standings. The two-day competition featured draft-legal men’s and women’s races on Friday, followed by Olympic-distance and Mixed-Team Relay events on Saturday.

Leading the way for Army, the women’s team captured the national championship—their second title in program history and first since 2010. The victory underscores the continued development of cadet-athletes who embody the Academy’s commitment to excellence, resilience, and competitive spirit.

Individually, cadets delivered standout performances across multiple events. In the Olympic-distance race, CDT Kiera Webster ’29 placed seventh overall in her first-ever national championship appearance, while CDT Elizabeth Fetter ’27 secured a 10th-place finish. In the draft-legal race, CDT Olivia Jenkins ’26 earned a sixth-place national finish, and the Army Mixed-Team Relay team also placed sixth.

On the men’s side, the Black Knights finished 10th overall, contributing to Army’s combined success across both divisions.

In addition to their national results, Army claimed the Armed Forces Combined Championship, outperforming teams from the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy. The victory also marked Army’s first win over Navy at the event since 2011.

This milestone performance reflects the strength of West Point’s holistic leader development model—where cadets are challenged to excel physically, mentally, and as members of high-performing teams—preparing them for the demands of leadership and service in complex environments.
