Four Track and Field Athletes Compete in Team USA Olympic Trials

The Army West Point Track and Field program has four athletes competing in the Team USA Olympic Trials over the next two weeks.

CDT Emily Fink ’25 is competing in the hammer throw after her second team All-American performance in the NCAA Championships. Brooke Stratman ’24 is in the javelin. Luke Griner ’24 will be running in the 800m. Last but not least, Brian Matthews ’24 will be competing in the 400m hurdles.

Fink and Stratman got going in the semifinals on June 21 with a 12 person final on June 23 for the hammer and June 30 for the javelin. The guys will run on June 27 with the finals on June 30, as well.

Stratman’s toss of 53.18m led the team in the javelin this year. Griner’s 800m time of 1:46.53 led the team this year. Matthews ran a time of 50.92 in the 400m hurdle to qualify for the meet.

Fink had a team best throw of 65.81m this season. On June 22, Fink qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trial Finals in the hammer throw with a throw of 65.81m. The throw slotted her in 10th place with the top 12 advancing to the final on June 23 at 8:00pm est. The throw was a new personal record.
