Categories: Cadet News, Academics

Last week, 18 cadets were inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) National Leadership Honor Society, that recognizes and encourages superior leadership and exemplary character. MAJ Steve Fennessy ’07, officer-in-charge of Omicron Delta Kappa and instructor in the Management Program, welcomed keynote speakers, Ms. Ellen Picula, Director of Program for Special Olympics New York, and Mr. Will Smith, President of the Special Olympics Athlete Leadership Council.

Founded in 1914 at Washington and Lee University, ODK champions its leadership values of collaboration, inclusivity, integrity, scholarship, and service.

Membership in ODK is open to all majors, across the Department of Behavioral Sciences & Leadership’s four programs including Engineering Psychology, Management, Psychology, and Sociology. Inductees demonstrate academic excellence, outstanding leadership abilities, and a willingness to serve others.

Annually, ODK plays an integral role in planning and running the Special Olympics games at West Point. This past April, ODK welcomed over 600 Special Olympic athletes that competed in the Mid-Hudson Valley Spring Games at West Point.
