Imagine a “good cadet.” Picture the cadet in crisp India whites, red sash cinched across the waist, ring securely affixed to the finger, with stars and wreaths and wings glistening on the chest. New WPAOG Family Shuttle Honors Fallen Cadet Surdyke
Families visiting West Point now have a new transportation option, thanks to a generous donation by Timothy (Tim) and Janice Surdyke through the Cadet Thomas Surdyke Memorial Foundation Endowment.

The Class of 2019 Graduation
The 985 members of the Class of 2019 entered the Academy 47 months ago on June 29, 2015—or, as LTG Darryl Williams ’83, the 60th Superintendent of West Point, said to them on their graduation day, they entered “12 Marvel and three Star Wars movies ago, when the iPhone was still running on IOS-8 and Tom Brady only had four Super Bowl rings.”

Branch Night for the Class of 2019
After four years of learning about the 17 branches of the U.S. Army through the various initiatives surrounding the Branch Education and Mentorship Program (e.g. Branch Week, military instruction courses, summer training, etc.), on that night, November 14, 2018, the firsties finally learned what their identity, beyond “cadet,” will be in the profession of arms for the next five years or more.

Class of 2019 Ring Weekend
On Aug. 24, 2018, the U.S. Military Academy Class of 2019 assembled at Trophy Point to receive their class rings during the annual Ring Ceremony.

Ring Melt for Class of 2019
Attendance at the 2018 Ring Melt for the Class of 2019 set a record, included 26 families representing ring donors, five members of the Academy (including Commandant of Cadets BG Steven Gilland ’90), 15 cadets, and nine representatives from WPAOG.

Class of 2019 Cow Affirmation Ceremony
The Class of 2019 affirmed their commitment to service and took the Oath of Affirmation, binding them to complete their next two years of study and a minimum of five years of active-duty military service thereafter.
