Army West Point Crew Shines at Head of the Charles Regatta

On October 18-19, Army West Point Crew competed in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Massachusetts. The Men’s Club 4 finished fourth out of 42 entries, earning a Head of the Charles medal, while the Women’s Club 4 placed 17th out of 50 entries. Both boats earned automatic entries for next year’s event. Additionally, retired Professor Jen Kiesling, a long-time Army Crew volunteer coach, won gold in the Women’s Grand Masters 4 event, setting a new course record.

There are more than 120 clubs at West Point including athletic, recreational, academic, religious, hobby, and diversity clubs – something for virtually every interest, made possible by the generous supporters who contribute to the Margin of Excellence.

FAQ West Point Crew Team

When did the Crew Team become established?
The Crew team was started in 1986 and has been competing on the east coast since. The team has two major seasons, fall and spring, and competes in 3-5 races. Following the fall season, the crew works out throughout the winter months, culminating in a week-long training event over spring break. Following spring break, the crew competes every weekend from the beginning of April through the second week in May.
