The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced that an estimated 97 percent of its employees will remain on duty in the event of a government shutdown, according to the VA Human Capital Contingency Plan. This means Veterans, families, Caregivers, and Survivors will continue to receive the care and services they rely on, without interruption.
VA leaders reaffirmed that their mission—to provide quality, consistent support to those who have served—remains unchanged, even when operations across the federal government may be affected by a lapse in appropriations.
For graduates and their families, this means that essential health care, benefits processing, and survivor support services will remain available. Learn more.
