MAJ Roberta Woronowicz ’14 competed in the Bouckaert Equestrian H.T. International from August 22-24 on her horse Fuerst Fargeaux. The pair finished in seventh place in the CCI2*-S division where she competed against some of the top riders in the country.

Woronowicz is an active duty UH-60 Blackhawk pilot and a member of U.S. Army Outdoors Team as an At Large Athlete. When not performing her duties as an Assistant Program Manager, Woronowicz and Fargeaux compete all over the southeastern United States at the Preliminary and CCI2* level in eventing.

Eventing is an Olympic sport that has its origins deeply rooted in military history. Referred to as the equestrian version of a triathlon, the original purpose of the sport was to test cavalry soldiers on their fitness, suitability for mission, and partnership with their horses. It consists of three phases: dressage, stadium jumping, and cross country. Dressage showcased skills from the parade ground, and the jumping phases demonstrated speed and stamina. Although the sport has changed much over the last century, it has not shaken its military roots as many competitors at the CCI levels wear military uniforms.
