2026 West Point Graduates Selected for General Officer Promotion

Join us in congratulating the current listing of West Point graduates who were selected for general officer promotion in 2026.

These individuals have proven themselves to be exceptional leaders with the skills and talent to lead our most important formations across the U.S. Army. In addition, these selections also signal the Army’s confidence in their future potential as leaders of character, ready to make a positive impact for years to come. Serving as a flag officer is an honor and a great responsibility, and your West Point Association of Graduates is appreciative and thankful for these individuals’ continued service and example in the defense of our great nation.

The following Regular Army officers were nominated by the President as of 26 March 2026:

Colonel Stephanie A. Bagley ’98 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  She is currently serving as Senior Defense Official and Defense Attaché, United States Embassy, Iraq.

Colonel John D. Bishop ’99 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  He is currently serving as Deputy Commander (Operations), 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Colonel Robert K. Bryant ’98 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  He is currently serving as Chief of Staff, Futures and Concepts Command, United States Army Transformation and Training Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.

Colonel Brian M. Ducote ’99 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  He is currently serving as Deputy Commander (Support), 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Colonel Timothy D. Gatlin ’99 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  He is currently serving as Deputy Commander (Maneuver), 3rd Infantry Division, Romania.

Colonel Ronald Iammartino Jr. ’03 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  He is currently serving as Director for the Unified Network Task Force, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-6, United States Army, Washington, DC.

Colonel Joseph A. Katz ’99 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  He is currently serving as Deputy Commander (Support), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Operation ARDENT VANGUARD, Fort Huachuca, Arizona.

Colonel Jim D. Keirsey ’01 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  He is currently serving as Deputy Commander (Operations), 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Colonel Edwin D. Matthaidess III99 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  He is currently serving as Deputy Commander (Support), 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Colonel Robert S. McChrystal ’02 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  He is currently serving as Deputy Commander (Operations), 7th Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Colonel Andrew R. Morgan ’98 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  He is currently serving as Commander, White Sands Missile Range/Deputy Commander for Developmental Testing, United States Army Test and Evaluation Command, White Sands, New Mexico.

Colonel Peter A. Patterson ’99 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  He is currently serving as Chief of Staff, Force Development, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, United States Army, Washington, DC.

Colonel Lucas S. VanAntwerp ’99 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  He is currently serving as Assistant Commander-Support, Joint Special Operations Command, United States Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Colonel Patrick E. Workman ’97 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  He is currently serving as Military Deputy Director, Program Analysis and Evaluation, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G8, United States Army, Washington DC.

The following Regular Army officers were confirmed by the Senate on 30 January 2026:

Brigadier General Matthew W. Brown ’97 for promotion to the rank of major general. He is currently serving as Commander, Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, Djibouti.

Brigadier General John P. Cogbill ’94 for promotion to the rank of major general. He is currently serving as Commanding General, 11th Airborne Division and United States Army Alaska, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

Brigadier General Jason A. Curl ’95 for promotion to the rank of major general. He is currently serving as Commanding General, Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk, Fort Polk, Louisiana.

Brigadier General Mark D. Miles ’95 for promotion to the rank of major general. He is currently serving as Deputy Commanding General, Cyber Center of Excellence, Fort Gordon, Georgia.

The following National Guard officers have been confirmed by the Senate for Federal recognition in the next higher grade:
