The West Point Black & Gold Sandhurst Team triumphed in the 2024 Patriot Games, defeating Navy in an electrifying weekend competition in Washington, D.C. December 13’s events included a Tug of War at the Washington Monument, where Army showcased its strength, and a Zodiac Race on the Potomac River, where cadets battled waves to a hard-earned victory. At the Lincoln Memorial, Army narrowly edged Navy in the Pull-Up Contest, with CDTs Zev Dewan ’27 and Jacob Kloepper ’27 leading the charge by completing over 20 pull-ups each in strict cadence.

December 14’s Marine Combat Fitness Test (MCFT) at Washington Commanders Stadium proved decisive. Army dominated the relay with standout performances from CDTs Ty Havniear ’28, Trent Williams ’27, and Janie Soucek ’27, who expanded the lead with blistering splits. Navy’s efforts to close the gap fell short as Henry Murphy ’25 and Will Cooper ’26 extended Army’s advantage, with Armando Mendez ’28 sealing the victory.

Army’s win in the MCFT secured the 8th Patriot Games crown in nine years, a testament to the team’s skill, grit, and determination. The Black & Gold Team will now prepare for a full spring season, culminating in the Sandhurst competition in May.
