On September 29, over 1,500 cadets volunteered to represent the United States Military Academy in the Tunnels to Towers 5K Run & Walk in New York City. Held each year on the last Sunday of September, the run follows the final footsteps of Firefighter Stephen Siller from the foot of Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. The event honors the firefighters, law enforcement officers, and thousands of civilians who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and pays homage to their memory. After the run, cadets heard remarks from Dr. Elizabeth L. Hillman, President and CEO of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, and had the opportunity to visit the memorial and museum.
