Among those attending were two members of the cadets’ 50-Year Affiliation Class of 1978, creating a meaningful connection across generations of the Long Gray Line. Following a Mission BBQ buffet, the cadets shared highlights from their summer training and discussed what they hope to learn during their semester at the Naval Academy.
WPSOA Vice President Karl Grizio ’88 presented each cadet with a Society challenge coin before the cadets spent time visiting with graduates and guests.
Experiences such as the welcome picnic help cadets understand the Long Gray Line’s lifelong reach and interconnectedness while inspiring them to become active members after graduation. The event also demonstrates the power of West Point Societies to convene graduates in support of the Academy and provide meaningful connections during the moments that matter.
Supporting exchange cadets throughout their semester is a central part of WPSOA’s mission. The Society also welcomes cadets traveling through the region or visiting for club and athletic competitions. Through these efforts, WPSOA serves West Point throughout Annapolis and Maryland by promoting the Academy, supporting graduates and cadets, and reflecting the values of Duty, Honor, Country in the communities it serves.
