On September 21, the New York Islanders kicked off preseason with a home game against the Philadelphia Flyers. Halfway through the game the head coach made the switch with his netminders and put in newly signed Bridgeport Islanders goalie Parker Gahagen ’17. Gahagen recorded 15 saves on 16 shots and posted 7 more in their shootout loss.
The former captain of the Army West Point Men’s Hockey team leads all Army goaltenders in career saves (3,172), career save percentage (.926), saves in a season (1,024), and save percentage in a season (.934). Gahagen was named to the All-Conference second team and recorded a career high 17 wins in his firstie year.
