WPAOG Thanks LTG Steve & Betsy Gilland for Their Service

Category: Grad News
Class Years:

As members of the Long Gray Line, we pause to recognize and celebrate the remarkable service of Lieutenant General Steve W. Gilland ’90 and his wife, Betsy ’90.  Leading the United States Military Academy is a strategic and significant responsibility, one that LTG Gilland embraced with character, intellect, passion, and a deep commitment to service. As the 61st Superintendent, he guided West Point through a consequential chapter in its history, strengthening the institution entrusted with educating, training, and inspiring the next generation of leaders.

Throughout his career, LTG Gilland answered the Nation’s call with unwavering dedication and courage, leading Soldiers with distinction and exemplifying the values of Duty, Honor, Country.  West Point has long stood as a cornerstone of America’s security and as a testament to the belief that the character of our leaders is as important as their competence.  Through the cadets he helped shape, the graduates he engaged, and the values he championed, LTG Gilland’s influence will extend far beyond his tenure, strengthening the Long Gray Line and our Nation for generations to come.

On behalf of the Association of Graduates, we offer our deepest gratitude to LTG and Mrs. Gilland for their extraordinary service and commitment.  Thank you, Sir, for a distinguished career of service to our Nation and our alma mater. We wish you and your family continued success and fulfillment in the years ahead.
