In the highly anticipated rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles during Super Bowl LIX, offensive lineman Brett Toth ’18 and the Eagles emerged victorious, with Toth adding a Super Bowl ring to his collection.
Toth joins an exclusive group of Black Knights who have gone on to lift the Lombardi trophy. Cole Christiansen ’20, a linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs, is also a member of this club after winning back-to-back Super Bowls in 2023 and 2024.
When the Eagles were in the Super Bowl two years ago, Toth was unable to take the field due to injury, but this year he geared up and saw action in the fourth quarter.
Toth was one of the first players Army head coach Jeff Monken recruited, and told USA TODAY Sports that he was immediately struck by Toth’s sharp intellect.
“He was asking 400-level questions as a freshman. He might as well have been speaking a different language,” Monken said. “He understood our offense and our schemes – total package of what was going on – as good or better than anyone on our football team. Extremely intelligent.”
After graduating from West Point in 2018, Toth was stationed in Missouri at Fort Leonard Wood. In 2019, he was granted deferment to play professional football. After a short stint in Philly, Toth landed with the Arizona Cardinals. He later returned to the Eagles and had a small stretch with the Carolina Panthers in 2023, but returned to the Eagles again later that year.
