Grad Pass
Special Security Update for West Point Access
Effective immediately, and until further notice, West Point security has suspended all “escort privileges” for guests visiting West Point. That is, all non-credentialed visitors (18 or older), even personal, escorted guests of active duty/retired/dependent/faculty/contractor cardholders, must now obtain official West Point visitor’s passes. The process of obtaining passes is identical to the existing process but, due to the increased demand for passes, it may prove slower than the normal process. With that in mind, we suggest that you plan your visit, as best you can, with this new requirement in mind. The Visitor Control Center (VCC) remains open from 6:00am to 6:00pm daily.
If you have any questions about the security process or requirements, please contact the VCC directly at: 315-774-9234/9235

Moving around West Point:
Effective immediately, the West Point Visitor Control Center (VCC) has eliminated all requirements to submit security forms (paper or online) for visitor passes. This applies to all pass types, including Grad Passes. The Grad Pass submission feature has therefore been removed from the AOG website. Grad Passes are still valid and continue to be issued.
The updated process is as follows:
- All visitors (18+) must be physically present at the VCC to receive a pass.
- Upon entry, proceed directly to the ticket machines—there are no forms to complete.
- Graduates and guests: each take a blue (Grad) ticket and sit in the Alumni Seating Area.
- General public visitors: take a red ticket and sit in general seating.
Visitors are called individually by ticket number/color and must report to a security desk when called.
- Valid ID is required:
- Driver’s license must be Enhanced or REAL ID compliant
- If not compliant, a valid passport may be used
- Background checks are conducted on the spot at the time ID is presented
Graduates must explicitly identify themselves as graduates to receive a 5-year Grad Pass. Security personnel will not assume graduate status, regardless of seating location.
- No physical passes are issued
- All passes (including 1-year and 5-year Grad Passes) are digitally embedded in the driver’s license
- The license serves as the pass and will be scanned at security checkpoints
