LTC (R) John F Morris ’02 released the book “Students to Soldiers: Secret Military Education at Elite Schools, 1815-1945.” Informed by his own experience as a cadet, Morris offers the first transnational history of student life at elite military preparatory institutions. Comparing British public schools, European cadet schools, and the U.S. Military Academy, he argues that extracurricular practices, rituals, and codes shaped future officers much more than their official courses of study.
