West Point Graduates Selected for General Officer Promotion

Join us in congratulating the current listing of West Point graduates who were selected for general officer promotion.

These individuals have proven themselves as leaders of exceptional skill and talent, capable of leading our most important formations across the U.S. Army. In addition, these selections also signal the Army’s confidence in their future potential as leaders of character, ready to make a positive impact for years to come. Serving as a flag officer is an honor and a great responsibility, and your West Point Association of Graduates is appreciative and thankful for these individuals’ continued service and example in the defense of our great nation.

The Senate confirmed the following officers on November 20, 2025:

Brigadier General Stephanie Q. Howard ’94 for promotion to the rank of major general. She is currently serving as Director, Joint Reserve Forces, J-9, Defense Logistics Agency, Washington, DC.

Colonel Jeremy D. Johnson ’96 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. He is currently serving as Executive Director, Operational Contract Support, Office of the Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment, Washington, DC.

Colonel Christopher B. Creaghe ’01 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. He is currently serving as Commander, 1st Mission Support Command, Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico.

The Senate confirmed the following officers on October 30, 2025:

Lieutenant General Joseph A. Ryan ’91 for appointment to the rank of general and assignment as Commanding General, Western Hemisphere Command. He is currently serving as Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, United States Army, Washington, DC.

Major General James P. Isenhower III 92 for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Commanding General, United States Army Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He is currently serving as Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, United States Army/Director of Army Safety, Washington, DC.

Major General Michelle A Schmidt 92 for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Deputy Chief of Staff, G-2, United States Army, Washington, DC. She most recently served as Commanding General, 7th Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Major General Richard L. Zellmann 92 for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Deputy Commander, United States Space Command, Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. He is currently serving as Deputy Commander, Combined Joint Task Force Space Operations, United States Space Command, Vandenburg Space Force Base, California.

Major General Peter N. Benchoff 93 for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, United States Army, Washington, DC. He is currently serving as Director, Program Analysis and Evaluation, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, United States Army, Washington, DC.

The Senate confirmed the following officer on September 19, 2025:

Lieutenant General Jonathan P. Braga ’91 for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Commander, Joint Special Operations Command, United States Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He is currently serving as Commanding General, United States Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.


The Senate confirmed the following officer on July 31, 2025:

Lieutenant General David M. Hodne ’91 for appointment to the grade of general and assignment as Commanding General, United States Army Transformation and Training Command, Austin, Texas. He currently serves as Deputy Commanding General, Futures and Concepts, United States Army Futures Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.


The Senate confirmed the following officers on June 29, 2025:

Colonel Abigail A. Cathelineaud ’99 for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. She is currently serving as Director, J-4/Command Engineer, United States Forces-Japan, Japan.
