WPAOG Online Parent Handbook

2025 Parent Handbook

We have designed this booklet to help parents understand and meet the challenges that await you during your cadet’s experience at the United States Military Academy. Prior knowledge about the journey is a powerful tool in preparing you for the 47-month cadet experience.

Graduation Class of 2026

Graduation Week is a proud and memorable milestone for cadets and their families, marking the final days before the graduating class commissions as officers in the United States Army. Throughout the week, West Point honors the hard work, dedication, leadership, and transformation of each cadet through time-honored traditions, ceremonies, and celebrations.

Events include the Alumni Wreath-Laying and Cadet Review, regimental Superintendent’s receptions recognizing cadet company achievements, academic department awards, the Graduation Parade, and the Graduation Banquet. Together, these events honor the graduating class, celebrate their accomplishments, and connect them to the enduring legacy of the Long Gray Line. See the Full Schedule and get details.

Providing the Margin of Excellence

Cadets participate in numerous activities beyond the classroom and military training that further enhance their leadership development. These activities are referred to as Margin of Excellence programs, and they benefit every cadet in three main areas: Cadet Activities, Academy Scholars, and Athletics. The Parents Fund is a way we work together with you to provide the Margin of Excellence.
