The U.S. Military Academy hosted a graduation ceremony for the first Air Assault class of the summer, July 2, 2023, at Mahan Hall at West Point, N.Y.
During Air Assault training, cadets, staff, and soldiers conducted aircraft rappelling operations utilizing two UH-60 Blackhawks in support of the Air Assault training.
Air Assault candidates are trained in Air Assault operations, sling-load operations, and rappelling with instructors from The Sabalauski Air Assault School, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
Upon graduation of the course, each soldier will be able to perform skills required to make maximum use of helicopter assets in training and in combat to support their unit operations. Air Assault School is one of the most physically challenging 10 days in the Army.
