Assistant Director, Major and Leadership Giving Angela Oakley

Angela joined the West Point Association of Graduates as an Annual Giving Officer in 2017. She has filled many roles in the Development team- Leadership Gifts Officer (LGO) in the greater-New York City area, Major Gifts Officer (MGO) of the northeast region, and most recently she has been promoted to the Assistant Director of Major and Leadership Giving. In this role, Angela focuses on cultivating Major Gifts from donors in the northeast and managing the 5 Leadership Gift Officers who are geographically focused.

Angela grew up in Huron, Ohio, and attended Bowling Green State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a minor in Political Communication. While on a college trip representing the BG Model United Nations Team, she met her future husband Tom Oakley ‘00. Tom was representing USMA in NYC at a Model United Nations competition.

In 2001, Tom and Angela were married at the Presidio in San Francisco. While Tom was deployed, Angela worked for Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals, and she also earned her MBA in International Business from Colorado State University. Upon returning from deployment Tom entered the JAG Corps and the Oakley’s had two children- Genevieve born in 2003 and TJ born in 2005.

The Oakley family has moved 10 times, in 8 states and 2 continents (Fort Carson x2, Fort Knox, The Ohio State University, Fort Hood, Charlottesville, VA, Fort Leavenworth, Sanremo Italy, West Point). During her time as a trailing spouse Angela has worked in a variety of fields-Fort Hood III Corps Family Program Management, Fort Hood Special Events Coordinator, ProSports MVP Project Manager for the Army and Marine Corps, IT recruiting and most recently, as a Development Officer for the WPAOG. Angela is a Certified Fundraising Executive. She has been a very passionate volunteer at all of the various Army installations to which they have been assigned, serving as President of the Officer and Civilian Spouses Clubs at three different posts.

The Oakleys continue to enjoy every aspect of being at West Point. In 2022, LTC Oakley retired from the Law Department and is now serving the Academy as the Chief of Alumni Affairs. Tom and Angela maintain their engagement with Cadets by sponsoring over 30 Cadets and working with the Men’s Lacrosse team.
