USMA Unveils Grant Statue

  USMA Unveils Grant Statue

On April 25, West Point and WPAOG unveiled a new bronze sculpture of General Ulysses S. Grant, Class of 1843. A gift of the Honorable Robert A. McDonald ’75 and his wife, Diane, the 7.5-foot portrait sculpture rests on a 4.5-foot granite pedestal and faces the Plain, roughly halfway between the Thayer and Sedgwick monuments. The Grant Statue is the work of master sculptor Paula Slater and fulfills the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 request to place a statue of Grant at West Point to mark his sesquicentennial as the 18th president of the United States. View photosRead more.

Projects Day 2019 Showcases Cadet Achievement

Projects Day 2019 Showcases Cadet Achievement

At West Point’s annual Projects Day on May 2, more than 800 cadets presented the results of their year-long capstone and independent research projects. Cadets develop projects through their work in Academic Individual Advanced Development (AIAD) opportunities, research projects, and other academic pursuits, made possible by private funding. WPAOG’s annual Donor Tribute Day, held in conjunction with Projects Day, demonstrated how the generosity of donors and their commitment to the Margin of Excellence makes a significant difference for the Corps of Cadets. WPAOG was pleased to express our appreciation to our donors and give them an opportunity to see firsthand the impact they have on capstone projects that represent the best of cadet intellect, creativity, and commitment. Thank you to all who support West Point! Full story. Photos.

As part of Donor Tribute Day, the West Point Parents Club of DC, MD, VA presented a gift of $20,000 to the Class of 2019 Class Gift Fund, from proceeds of the Class Afghan sales. Cadet Isabella Vargas ’19, Class Historian, received the gift from Jacquline Grose, Parent Club Representative from the West Point Parents Club of DC, MD, VA. The check ceremony was part of a special luncheon in conjunction with Projects Day 2019, where BG Cindy Jebb ’82, Dean of the Academic Board, and cadets shared how the more than 24,500 donors in 2018 provided them with opportunities to further develop academically beyond the Academy’s core education through Margin of Excellence programs. Many of the honors and national rankings earned by the Academy and our cadets are a direct result of development and research programs and activities provided by donor support.

Thank You to the Class of 2019 Parents

Thank You to the Class of 2019 Parents

Thank you to the Class of 2019 Parents for all their contributions to strengthen Margin of Excellence programs and sustain the Long Gray Line. Not only did this generosity have an impact while the Class of 2019 was at West Point building the leadership skills that are vital for success as Officers in our Army, but this support will also ensure a stronger future for the Academy. During the 2018 fiscal year, the West Point Parents Fund contributed to the overall $3,691,190 distributed by the Superintendent’s Annual Fund. This money supported programs such as competitive academic teams, graduate scholarships, co-curricular teams & clubs, cadet internships, cultural immersion trips and staff rides, and semesters abroad. Thank you to all who support West Point.
