Message from the Superintendent

  Message from the Superintendent

With graduation just around the corner, I’d like to thank the parents of the Class of 2018 for your support over the years. Your sons and daughters are completing one of the toughest academic and leader development programs in the nation, and have excelled in a program that demands excellence every minute of every day. Next Saturday, they will be commissioned as officers in the United States Army and will head out to lead America’s sons and daughters around the globe. We are all incredibly proud of this amazing group of young men and women, as I know each of you are as well. Thank you for supporting them, and us, these past four years. Please also consider staying connected to West Point through your local parents’ club or joining the family readiness group at your son’s or daughter’s new duty station. I look forward to seeing many of you here for graduation!

West Point Parents Clubs Recognized on Donor Tribute Day

West Point Parents Clubs Recognized on Donor Tribute Day

At West Point Projects Day on May 3, more than 400 posters, presentations, performances and briefings across West Point showcased capstone projects that cadets develop through their work in Academic Individual Advanced Development (AIAD) opportunities, research projects, and other academic pursuits, made possible by private funding. WPAOG’s annual Donor Tribute Day, held in conjunction with Projects Day, demonstrated how the generosity of donors and their commitment to the Margin of Excellence makes a significant difference for the Corps of Cadets. WPAOG was pleased to recognize five Parents Clubs for their contributions at Donor Tribute Day for the first time: West Point Parents Club of West Point serving NY & NJ; West Point Parents Club of NJ; West Point Parents Club of MD, DC, & VA; West Point Parents Club of Greater Houston; and West Point Parents Club of Greater Texas. Projects Day photos.

Thank You to the Class of 2018 Parents

Thank You to the Class of 2018 Parents

Thank you to the Class of 2018 Parents for all their contributions to strengthen Margin of Excellence programs and sustain the Long Gray Line. Not only did this generosity have an impact while the Class of 2018 was at West Point building the leadership skills that are vital for success as Officers in our Army, but this support will also ensure a stronger future for the Academy. During the 2017 fiscal year, the West Point Parents Fund contributed to the overall $3,226,500 distributed by the Superintendent’s Annual Fund. This money supported programs such as competitive academic teams, graduate scholarships, co-curricular teams & clubs, cadet internships, cultural immersion trips and staff rides, and semesters abroad. Thank you to all who support West Point.

Cadets respectfully filed past the gravesites of the fallen at the West Point Cemetery May 3 for the “Inspiration to Serve” cemetery tour. The annual tradition is the final Cadet Character Development Program event of third-class year as the cadets prepare to take the Oath of Affirmation August 19. The tour is designed to help the yearlings reflect upon the concept of selfless service and be inspired by the stories of the character and personality of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
