Visiting West Point—The Rules Have Changed

Effective June 7, all visitors to West Point who do not have identification issued by the Department of Defense (or are not escorted by someone with same) will be required to stop at the Visitors Center outside Thayer Gate to get a visitor pass. USMA is still working on plans for handling this new requirement for large-scale public and alumni events. Please be patient during this process. For the most up-do-date information, please visit the West Point Garrison webpage with the policy.

U.S. Army Air Assault Training Now at West Point

For the second year, cadets are now able to receive Air Assault training right here at West Point. Led by a mobile training team of “Blackhat” instructors from the The Sabalauski Air Assault School at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, cadets go through a physically and mentally challenging ten-day course to earn the Air Assault qualification. Check out this cool Air Assault School video on our Facebook page and view photos of the training at the West Point Flickr page.

Malek ’59 Funds New Army West Point Soccer Stadium

June 13 marked the groundbreaking for a facility which brings much-anticipated improvements to the current stadium. Head women’s coach Marcia McDermott and assistant men’s coach Rich Costanzo expressed the soccer teams’ excitement and agreed that the new state-of-the-art facilities and field improvements will make the Malek Stadium one of the best places in the country to play and watch first-class collegiate soccer. Funded by Frederick V. Malek ’59, the new stadium will feature a new press box with a radio broadcasting room and platform for cameras, allowing for better game coverage, as well as improved fan facilities and new premium seating. It is projected to be completed in this Fall. Watch our exclusive video with interviews of Mr. Malek, USMA’s Athletic Director, and the coaches.
