Parachute Team Brings Home the Gold at Nationals

  West Point Parachute Team

Congratulations to the Army West Point Parachute Team for taking the gold in the 2-way, advanced 4-way and 6-way formation skydiving events at the 2017 U.S. Parachute Association National Collegiate Parachuting Championships. The 6-way team also set a new national record by completing the six-person formation in 9.16 seconds after exiting the aircraft. In addition, Cadet Kristopher Hayhurst ’18 took gold in the classic accuracy competition and Cadet Andrew Winski ’20 took gold in the novice sport accuracy event. The Winter 2018 issue of West Point magazine offers an exclusive inside look at the new Frederic V. Malek West Point Visitors Center. Exhibits inside the 31,000-square-foot, fully donor-funded Center tell the inspiring history of West Point and its graduates, and provide an interactive experience of Cadet life. This issue also features an interview with First Captain Simone Askew ’18 and, of course, a recap of Army Football beating Navy…again! Your magazine should be arriving soon, but if you’d like a preview, you can view the digital edition, always available for reading on the go via your tablet or smartphone. All back issues are available in this format as well.

USMA-RMC Annual Exchange Weekend

  RMC Annual Exchange Cadets in Stands

West Point hosted officer cadets from the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) Jan. 18-21 for the annual exchange between the two academies, while USMA cadets visited RMC in Kingston, Ontario. A main event of the weekend: the 82nd West Point-RMC hockey game, in which the Black Knights bested the Paladins 5-0. Army now has a seven-game winning streak over the RMC in the longest-standing international intercollegiate hockey rivalry, dating back to 1923.

The deadline to have your Herbert Hall Brick or Paver donation installed for spring 2018 is March 1. They will be installed the week before graduation so be sure to check them out if you are here visiting this summer. The fall installation deadline is July 1 and will take place just prior to the beginning of the fall reunion season. What a great way to leave your mark on West Point!
