2015: What a Year!

Last year was another banner year in fundraising for West Point. Because of you, the West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) received more than $44 million in cash receipts and gifts-in-kind during 2015 for the Academy’s Margin of Excellence programs as well as for activities and traditions that strengthen the Long Gray Line. These contributions also ensured a strong finish to the For Us All Campaign, WPAOG’s seven-year comprehensive fundraising campaign, which concluded December 31, 2015. Thank You!

And Now the 2016 Annual Fund Campaign is Underway

Last year’s successful fundraising campaign provided a platform on which we must build. We need to press forward and sustain this important support. Throughout the year, you may be asked to contribute to the following funds, each of which meets the immediate, annual needs of the Academy and Association:

Superintendent’s Annual Fund/ West Point Parents Fund (unrestricted funds for cadets and USMA)
Long Gray Line (unrestricted funds for graduates and WPAOG)
Army A Club (unrestricted gifts for intercollegiate athletics)
Class Gift Funds/Restricted Gifts (restricted by classes in reunion campaigns/specific programs)

Campaign Donor Profile: Bill Song ’98

Growing up as a first generation immigrant from South Korea, Bill Song ’98 witnessed his parents’ hard work and understood the value of a great education. To him, West Point was the perfect place, in that it offered a rigorous academic program and allowed him to serve the country that offered his family a new life. Today, Mr. Song credits his West Point education for his career and skill set and sees his contributions as a way to show his gratitude and invest in our country’s future leaders.  Read more.

New Davis Lifetime Giving Society

We have established a new Lifetime Giving Society, the Benjamin O. Davis Jr. Society, which recognizes those who have given between $250,000 and $499,999 to West Point throughout their lifetime. It is named in honor of General Davis, Class of 1936, one of the Academy’s first black graduates and a pioneer within the Air Force. “Davis embodied the values of Duty, Honor, Country,” says WPAOG Vice President of Development Kristin Sorenson. “His admirable career paved the way for so many others and demonstrated the strength of a diverse and unified military. Establishing this new giving society pays tribute to his legacy and represents the commitment and leadership of our donors.”  Learn More.

Save the Date: Donor Tribute Day 2016

This year’s Donor Tribute Day will take place on April 28, 2016. This annual event is held in conjunction with the Academy’s Projects Day and is open to members of the Superintendent’s Circle, Chairman’s Circle, lifetime giving societies, and Cullum Society and to donors who gave $2,500 or more in the previous calendar year. During the course of the day, donors will have the opportunity to meet with cadets and faculty and see the impact of their philanthropy at West Point firsthand. Invitations to the event will go out in the following weeks. For more information, contact developmentevents@wpaog.org.
