Important Information About Visiting West Point

Effective Jan. 30, 2017 West Point cannot accept driver's licenses from KY, ME, MN, MO, MT, PA, SC or WA as identification for post access because they are noncompliant with the REAL ID Act. This could be a problem for visitors who arrive when the Visitor Control Center is not open to conduct background checks for issuing a Visitor Pass. Visitors from these states who arrive after hours during the week or on the weekends will need to show the guard additional documentation such as a vehicle registration, bill with their name and address on it, or some other corroborating documentation along with their driver's license. More details.

Restoring MacArthur: Behind the Scenes with WPAOG’s Repair & Maintenance Team

MacArthur Statues foot at West Point

Did you know that WPAOG provides maintenance support for gift-funded monuments and buildings around West Point that have a maintenance endowment? As part of this program (about 20 projects per year), WPAOG is currently performing a restoration on the MacArthur statue on the Plain, repairing the walls and pavers, pressure washing all areas, and restoring the monument to its original state. During the project, we discovered some “wear and tear” unique to this project. It seems that “someone” had polished the foot of MacArthur and clear coated his shoe to give a “shiny” look. The project is scheduled to be completed by early spring (weather permitting.) Our question is, “Why the shiny shoes?”
