Adventure & Travel: A Prescription for All-Around Good Health

Members of the Long Gray Line love adventure. The U.S. Army, after all, often promotes itself by promising adventure and a chance to see the world. But few grasp just how beneficial adventure and travel can be. Check out these 10 reasons why adventure travel is good for you and then consider booking one of the trips below (or one of the many featured through WPAOG’s Travel Program) for the good of your physical, mental, and spiritual health.

An Ancient Adventure

Ports of call include Ajaccio, Corsica, France (with its lush pine forests and scenic gorges), Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy (where travelers can discover the remains of the island’s ancient, enigmatic Nuraghic culture and their stone towers built in scenic locations), and the Balearic Island of Ibiza, Spain (with its majestically rugged coastline and 16th century cobblestone streets). Travel Dates June 25 - July 3, 2016.

Mystery and Legend, China and Tibet

Who hasn’t dreamed of walking the Great Wall of China, touring the famed Forbidden City, or seeing palaces that once housed the Dalai Lama? Guests of this 14-day journey will experience all this and more, including a three-night cruise of China’s fabled Yangtze River and two nights in exotic Shanghai. Travel dates October 9 - 22, 2016.

Booyah! Baja!

Looking for an adventure that the whole family can experience? Check out this seven-day vacation along Mexico’s finger-like peninsula, featuring horseback riding, surfing or paddle boarding, hiking, kayaking, and swimming with sea lions. And for those who would rather relax, there’s Balandra Bay on the tranquil waters of the Sea of Cortez, complete with one of the planet’s most bio-diverse ecosystems as desert meets ocean.
