The event, which took place at Camp Buckner on the last day of Cadet Field Training, during the TF Ferrara Awards Ceremony, represents the first time the class flag is used during a class function. The flag, which includes the class motto, “For More than Ourselves”, will become part of every significant class event, including the Affirmation Ceremony and Ring Weekend. When the last cadet has graduated with the Class of 2012, the flag will go to Herbert Hall to be used for class events.
“We grip hands with you here today.”
In his remarks to the Class, MG Fred Gorden, instructed the class to hold the flag in the same high esteem that his class held to theirs. He said that the flag was a symbol that should remind them, “who we are and where we come from.”
The first 50-Year affiliation class to partner began with the Class of 2001.
Following the Class Flag Presentation, there was a presentation of awards, as well as the NCO Induction. Command Sergeant Major Wells gave remarks to the class, reminding them, as NCOs, to
BE, KNOW, and DO.
