Sprint Football Alumni Weekend

August 22 - 24, 2013

The 2013 Army Sprint (formerly 150’s) football season will be here before you know it. Our cadet-athletes are working hard this off-season and are eager to return to the gridiron and defend their league title. Although we achieved perfection last season, the players are not satisfied. Our players and coaches want to take the team and the program to even greater heights by being the first team to win consecutive outright championships since the great teams of '72, '73, and '74.

On August 22-24, we will host the 5th Annual Army Sprint Football Alumni Weekend. For the past four years, former players and friends of Sprint football have returned to West Point, put on the pads, and gone head-to-head with the current players. Many friendships have been rekindled and a great time has been had by all. More importantly to me was the fact that current players were able to witness excellence right before their eyes through our Alumni. What former players represent and model both on and off the fields of friendly strife make an immeasurable contribution to what I want our program to stand for, which is to be the model athletic program at the United States Military Academy that consistently wins championships the right way and produces outstanding leaders for our nation.

Lightweight football players represent the best of what our Academy has to offer. Service, teamwork, and personal sacrifice are attributes that our players hone on the gridiron and then to on to apply on the battlefield. The team’s motto this year personifies what we strive to achieve: Relentless Pursuit! Through the ups and downs on the playing field, in the barracks, in the academic buildings, on the battlefield, or in any life challenge, Sprint football teaches us to never give up and to relentlessly pursue our goals until we achieve victory. And in the case of Sprint football, victory is the only acceptable result.

In keeping with our quest for perfection in the form of another undefeated season and outright league title, I have decided that the theme for this year’s Alumni Weekend will be “Honoring Perfection.” During our pre-game ceremony we will take time out to recognize the fifteen 150’s/Sprint teams from the past who finished their seasons with unblemished records. Thanks to everyone for being a special part of the Sprint Football Family. I hope to see you on August 22nd!
